We are looking for a lead traditional animator for the Hammer & Bolter series currently in production for Games Workshop. The project is in a realistic anime-inspired Sci-Fi style, similar to anime series such as Netflix’s Castlevania. The animation work will be varied and the lead will be given action orientated shots with fluid body movement, characters fighting and more complex actions. We are looking for someone with strong anatomy drawing skills able to quickly draw people in a detailed, realistic yet dynamic style with a flair for creating fluid traditionally animated shots. You would also create most of the effects animation, fire, electricity, magic powers etc. Cleanup of animation would be handled by our clean up artists. The story and visuals will be violent, bordering on horror, so please do not apply if this is not your thing.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Toon Boom Harmony, with strong skills in traditional figurative animation and technical knowledge of Harmony (for example using master controller tools). The lead will also be expected to offer help and guidance, both technical and artistic, to the rest of the animation team.

We run to a tight schedule and it is essential that applicants are team players, communicative and able to work to alloted times within our schedules.

We are looking for someone who can also take advantage of some of Harmony’s cut-out style tools such as pegs and master controllers. This role will also create most of the effects animation (fire, electricity, magic powers etc.).

As previously mentioned, this production runs to tight deadlines, so you will be expected to regularly communicate progress of work to the production team and attend regular meetings to review work. As a studio we use FTrack, so previous working knowledge of this is an advantage.
